Overwhelmed

What does it mean to be overwhelmed? The dictionary describes it as "bury or drown beneath a huge mass." Other words to describe feeling overwhelmed - are swamped, flooded, and inundated.

Did you know the dictionary even describes being overwhelmed as defeated?

Seeing this gave me some hope. How could you see being completely defeated as hopeful, you might ask? I realized I am NOT defeated! 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may rest on me.

Does this mean we speak out all our negative thoughts and emotions for God to become our strength? Absolutely not! It means we are to lean upon him and praise Him for what he's already given us!

Psalms 139 says He knows all about you and your thoughts before you think them and your words before you speak them.

I don't know about you, but that makes me feel secure! No person on earth will ever know you this well, not even yourself.

So, when I am feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and as if I can't go on, I can boast and say, "My God is my strength! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! I will continue my day, knowing I am victorious and NEVER defeated!

Matthew 6:25-27 - That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant, harvest, or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? Can any of you, by worrying, add a single hour to your life?

Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
